Fleece Sheets Saturday, February 27th, 2010

Fleece bed sheets seem to be the newest thing on the market for winter bedwear.

We do not have any yet for our inventory, but I have seen them in the retail stores.

They look to be most soft, and I bet they feel like a dream to sleep in.

Flannel sheets are nice and warm, but these new fleece ones must be downright hot.

I think the thing that most concerns me about them is the washing of them.

They are so big and thick, that I don’t believe my regular top loading washing machine could handle the whole set in one wash.

And the package I looked at was a full sized set.

I bet my machine would have a heck of a time trying to wash just one of those king size ones.

We will keep our eyes on them to see how well they are accepted by consumers.

And if I can find them at a great deal, I may try a set just to see for myself.

Would love to hear if anyone has used them!

Make Mine Flannel Saturday, December 12th, 2009

After the temps during the last couple of nights, I am awfully glad to put flannel sheets on the bed.

It has been painful getting in those cold, smooth sheets that we so love in the summer.

The warmth of the flannel feels so good on these chilly nights.

We don’t have a lot left, but there are a few sets still available in our store, and in our ebay store too.

If you have never tried them, you are missing a treat.

    Thanks for stopping by!

Ralph Lauren Sheets Friday, February 6th, 2009

We have added some pretty Ralph Lauren sheets to our inventory.

Until now, we have pretty much carried just the Tommy Hilfiger ones, and are pleased to be able to offer some of the harder to find Ralph Lauren ones too.

Not a whole big selection yet, but hopefully as we go along we will find more of them.

As always, clicking on the photo will bring you to the listing for that item.

    Thanks for looking!

Jersey Sheets Thursday, November 6th, 2008

Have you ever tried a set of sheets made of 100% cotton jersey knit?

We tried them for the first time a couple of months ago, and were pleasantly surprised by the feel and performance of them.

As the weather turns cooler it is a shock to get into a cold bed.  The coolness of regular sheets is welcomed in the summer, but not when autumn starts to visit again.

And it was still too warm to put the flannel sheets on yet, so we tried the jersey ones.

I have to admit, they are a bit stretchy, but they are just the right weight for this time of the year - not too cool, and not too hot.

They feel comfortable against the skin, not rough, but not smooth like regular sheets either.

Comfortable, breathable, cotton jersey sheets - treat yourself to their unique feeling.

What is Thread Count on a Bed Sheet? Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

We have all heard about the thread count on bed sheets, but do we really know what it means?

The thread count refers to the number of threads running vertically and horizontally in a square inch of the sheet fabric.

This number can run anywhere between 80-700, with most sheets being between the 180-320 range.

Of course, the higher the thread count, the more expensive the sheet.

But before you decide to spend the high dollar on the high count, you also need to know the ply of the thread.

There are 1 ply and 2 ply threads that figure into the count.

One ply threads are as they state, one thread only, where the two ply are two threads twisted together to make one thread.

So when you are about to purchase a 600 thread count sheet, are you getting 600 single ply threads per square inch, or 300 2-ply threads per square inch.

If you are looking for the softest, lightest sheet, then the single ply threads will offer a finer, more delicate fabric.

The 2 ply threads offer a stronger, more durable, yet heavier sheet.

One other factor to consider when purchasing a sheet, is how the cotton that it is made of has been processed.

If the cotton has been carded and combed, then it will have a silky feeling as in the finest percale sheets.

If the cotton has a napped finish, then you will get the benefit of warmth, as in flannel sheets.

There are also processes for jersey and sateen sheets that affect the cotton and it’s feel and performance.

The best thing to do when purchasing a sheet is to actually feel the fabric. Will the rest of yourself be happy with the feel and weave of the sheet.

If they feel good, and look good with your decor, then that is all that matters in the end.
