Finally Done! Thursday, February 26th, 2009

My last post mentioned that we would be working on finishing up the taxes for this year.

I am happy to say that they are now officially done and sent, or should I say, transmitted.

We have been sending them electronically for the past few years, and it really makes them much easier to work on.

The software saves the info from the previous year and imports it into the current year - all in the correct places.

As I input info it also gets all placed in the correct boxes and on the correct forms.

Sure makes it a lot easier than shuffling all the papers around as I input and carry figures over to new forms.

Since the software also does all the addition and calculations, I don’t need to worry about errors and do all the double adding and rechecking.

It saves time and aggravation, and it limits the size of the headaches that this time of the year brings.

And the refund comes much quicker too!

Tax Time Monday, February 16th, 2009

That dreaded time of the year is back - time to do the taxes.

Time to get all the sales slips and receipts in order.

Time to add up all the mileage.

Time to get the expenses all organized.

And time to keep the bottle of ibuprofen close by for those headaches that are sure to come.

All would be fine if it was just a couple of forms, but we run two businesses and have lots of forms.

Paper is everywhere - and we save it for years in case of an audit.

Sometimes it feels like we are drowning in paper.

I dream about numbers and debits and credits.

Can’t wait to get these taxes done!

Book Keeping Blues Sunday, September 21st, 2008

It is that time of the year again - the third quarter is drawing to a close, and the paper work from the summer has been piling up.

I am usually a couple months behind on my monthly book keeping tasks - but the summer just puts me into the mode of - it can wait until later - and later just never seems to arrive.

So instead of just a couple months, it has now doubled to four, almost five months behind.

Man - I really cannot stand the idea of getting it all organized, checked off, added, and input into the computer, but I know if I do not tackle it soon, then the holidays will be upon us.

And after the holidays comes the dreaded year end - and we all know that tax time comes on the heels of year end.

I had better get myself motivated and at least start organizing the paperwork - but wait, the warm fall day is calling yet again - and I cannot resist!

    Help!!!!!!
